Unfortunate news (April Fools' Day)
We have some unfortunate news. First, though, a little history lesson.

Many many years ago when RQ3 was first being developed, there were internal test builds, "alpha" builds for team members not meant for outside distribution. We ran into a situation wherein one of our team members inadvertantly let one of the early pre-1.0 alphas leak. The build was buggy, incomplete, and showed some of the worst that RQ3 was at the time. It devastated the team and destroyed morale.

It is my sad news to let you know that this has happened again.

An internal build not meant for public distribution has gotten out into the wild. 10+ years ago, when there were many more team members working on the project, it was easier to absorb the loss of people who left due to the leak. Now, however, there are only a few of us left working on the project.

It is my sad news to inform you, our loyal fans, that this is not something that we can recover from. The team is spread too thin, we've been toiling on the project in the 8 years since the last release, and we had really hoped to release something that wouldn't crash 75% of people's computers when they tried it. There's nothing quite as sucky as getting email asking when we'll fix the many bugs in the leaked version of the game we've been working on for so very long.

That's not how we wanted to do a final release. We wanted to open the source and have a fun, pretty game that everyone could enjoy.

Unfortunately, RQ3 3.2 will be the final official release. I guess the leak is our final unofficial release. We're closing up shop.

Sorry again. :(
